New Elementary School Construction
This morning the piling began to arrive. The piling system will consist of two 60 foot logs that will be coupled together with a steel sleeve. The bottom pile will be an untreated log that comes from Oregon, and were just logged. The top pile, or the one closer to the surface will be treated. These piling are required to provide a stable foundation system due to the loose soil conditions.

South Bend's new elementary school build is moving forward. Currently, contractors are surveying the building site in preparation for the approximate 180 piling that will be installed.
At the same time, South Bend maintenance crews are removing our greenhouses and playground equipment. I spoke with Rognlin's construction superintendent, Brandon Russell, today where he told me they hope to move piling in the week of June 3. Rognlin's hopes to begin driving pile on June 10.
